Bush Administration Repeals Roadless Rule

WE NEED TO STOP THIS SCUM president!
The Bush administration's repeal of the roadless rule would allow many of President Bush's top campaign contributors in the timber, mining and oil industries to log, mine, and drill in pristine areas that provide 60 million Americans with clean drinking water and provide habitat for over 1600 endangered species. Even for an administration that has weakened so many environmental and public health protections, this action is extreme.

Their action comes even though the Forest Service has received more than 4 million comments in support of protecting America's last wild forests, including tens of thousands from people like you who we email each week - more than have ever been submitted on any rule making on any topic in the history of the United States.

The main hope right now to keep these forests safe for future generations is for governors to petition the Bush administration to keep roadless areas in their state protected. Some governors - like California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Washington Governor Christine Gregoire - have already indicated that they're open to the possibility of doing so.

But we've got to act quickly - there are more than 50 timber sales in roadless areas poised to go forward very soon. Please take a moment right now to ask your governor to do everything possible to save your state's last wild forests.
