The Cloture 19 Database
UPDATE: Tuesday, 1/31/06
Below are the 19 Democrats who voted for cloture yesterday, thereby helping
to stop the filibuster. The names have been verified from the list on the
Senate's website. You should be able to copy the table below to your
clipboard and paste it into an Excel spreadsheet to do some automated faxing,
if you're technically inclined. Otherwise, there are instructions below for
the easiest way to send email messages to them.
If you're really, really technically inclined and want to work with me on developing
a way to automate filling in the webforms, let me know:

Type the text you want to send to the senators in any text editor. Copy the text you
typed to the Clipboard. (Click at the top left of the text and, without
letting go, drag to the bottom right until all the text is selected. Let
go. Move the cursor to where it is inside the selected text, then right
click and then left click on Copy.) If you want your message to be read,
it's better not to get too strong with your language. You can be firm
without using profanity or threats.
Click on the "email" address of the first senator.
If an email message window pops up, paste your text into the message block, add
something provocative to the subject line, and click Send.
If the senator's webform page opens, fill in the input blocks. They usually ask for
your name, address, and phone number, etc. Once you've done it one time,
auto-fill will help you after that. Paste your text into the comments
block. Click the button that sends your message.
Use the Back button to return to this page.
Go to the next senator.
The biggest disadvantage of these webforms is that you can't send graphics. You can,
however, send links to stories and to graphics. You just have to make sure the address
is correct. I always use copy and paste for sending link addresses.
